What position do Steelers need to prioritize in the draft?

Predicting a draft class is insanely difficult and predicting trades makes it all the more challenging. So, I am going to be doing a draft board for the first four rounds and the position I think the Steelers need to go. Without any trades, I'll break down by position at each point and a prospect or two that I think can be at those positions to draft based on need.

Starting at pick 20, I think this needs to be an offensive side-of-the-ball pick. With rumors of a Cooper DeJean grab or trade up I like what Mike Nicastro said: “As good as DeJean is, I just don't want the NFL’s highest-paid defense addressing that side of the ball in the first round.” That is something I totally agree with and with that I think the O-Line needs/will be going first. A tackle is my go-to in this situation and someone like Troy Fautanu or Amarius Mims would make magic for a Steelers offense that will always want to play bully ball.

The second round is probably my biggest toss-up. My first thought is wide-receiver. George Pickens has shown some great flashes of being a true WR1 but filling that WR2 spot is essential going into this season and getting that spot for cheaper. My pick here would be Roman Wilson from Michigan. Roman comes from the best team in the country this past year and operates out of the slot primarily. Working in a run-heavy offense and still showing great production hauling in twelve touchdowns gives me confidence that he would thrive in Pittsburgh and help GP immensely.

Coming in at pick 98 the Steelers need to not overthink -- and go get another mauler. With the Center position open I think this is the clear choice and if he is there, get Georgia's Sedrick Van Pran. I think this pick would be a no-brainer, the guy has played in all of Georgia's games in the last three years and has allowed one sack and one QB hit. Van Pran has been a part of some incredible football at a top-tier program, and I think that is wildly important for an offensive lineman transitioning to NFL level.

To cap it all off I understand the cornerback concerns. This is the round and pick we get our number two to JPJ. Keep an eye on Jarrian Jones out of Florida State. After a rough start to his college campaign, Jones had back-to-back stellar years allowing zero touchdowns as the primary defender. Coming off arguably his best season yet and playing in the slot Jarrian would fill that void immediately that the Steelers lost after Mike Hilton left while also adding some good size at that position.

Beyond round four is where things can get dicey and there will be other positions filled for depth but I think these are easily the four positions that need help and can be filled through the first four picks without any trades.
