Earlier this season, the Pittsburgh Pirates traded right-handed pitcher, JT Brubaker, to the New York Yankees for a player to be named later. After a little over a month, the unknown player has officially been announced to be Keiner Delgado, a young middle infield prospect.

Delgado is a 20-year-old middle infielder from Venezuela. He is a switch hitter who has been in the FCL for his first two years of professional baseball. According to MLB Pipeline, Delgado was the 20th-ranked prospect in the Yankees organization. He is now the 24th-ranked prospect for the Pirates.

Delgado has a career batting average of .301 in his short career with 11 home runs and 59 runs batted in. He also has an OPS of .954, which includes an on-base percentage of .459 and a slugging percentage of .495. He also adds great speed as he already has 70 career stolen bases and great plate discipline as he already has 94 walks and only 59 strikeouts.

Delgado looks like a solid prospect who is very young and has a lot of potential. Brubaker has not pitched since 2022, so to get a top prospect out of him is very significant. The FCL season begins this weekend so let’s see what Delgado can do with the Pirates.
